2016 MA Curriculum Changes

Impact on the MA student

As a current MA student, these new requirements will not affect you except for the availability of some courses. If you have completed your required set of courses in Bible, Theology and Spiritual Formation, for example, you will not be affected at all.

Current MA students who have completed BS515 (OT1) or BS516 (OT2) will receive credit for the new BS515 (Introduction to OT Studies) and shall choose another OT course for 3 hours of OT Biblical studies. Similarly, current students who have completed BS535 (NT1) or BS536 (NT2) will receive credit for the new BS535 (Introduction to NT Studies) and shall choose another NT course for 3 hours of NT Biblical studies.

“Theological Studies” now includes the previous “Historical Theology” and “Systematic Theology” courses. If a current student has not completed HT500 or HT501 (History of Christian Doctrine 1 and 2) they will now complete the new HT500 and HT501 (History of Christian Theology 1 and 2). ST500 Systematic Theology has been deleted and replaced by ST532 Mission Theology.

Under the Spiritual Formation requirement, a new course (PT512 Servant Leadership) is being developed and scheduled in 2016. This course may be used as one of the 2 courses currently required under Spiritual Formation.
