TCM’s twenty-four (24) credit hour certificate is a non-degree educational program that provides students an opportunity to enhance their skills in Christian leadership. It is designed for pastors, elders, teachers, and other Christian leaders seeking to continue their education and/or pursue a degree by providing foundational classes for academic credit.

Goals

Students who complete the Certificate will

  1. Build a biblical foundation for disciple-making (Program Goal 1)
  2. Construct an infrastructure for personal Bible study (Program Goal 2)
  3. Frame a structure for acting as servant leaders (Program Goal 3)
  4. Practice communication using a variety of tools (Program Goal 4)

Certificate Curriculum

Certificate requirements are 24 credit hours total:

  • RE 500 – Research Methods (3 credit hours) – this course should be taken in the first two courses (6credit hours) of this study.
  • RE 601 Integrated Reflection Ministry Project (3 credit hours)

One core course chosen from the following (3 credit hours):

  • OL 500 Disciple-Making
  • PT 601 Theology and Practice of Worship
  • PT 602 Theology and Practice of Prayer
  • PT 603 Theology and Practice of Stewardship

Three core courses chosen from the following (9 credit hours total):

  • BS 500 Hermeneutics
  • BS 615 Introduction to Old Testament Studies (BS/PT 621 Old Testament Preaching and Teaching or BS 639 Mission in the Old Testament may be a substitute for this requirement)
  • BS 635 Introduction to New Testament Studies (BS/PT641 New Testament Preaching and Teaching or BS 640 Mission in the New Testament may be a substitute for this requirement)
  • TH 600 History of Christian Theology 1
  • TH 601 History of Christian Theology 2

Two courses chosen from the PT/OL course offerings (6 credit hours total)

Certificate with Concentration in Disciple-Making Curriculum

A Certificate with a focus in disciple-making studies is attained by completing the following curriculum.

  • RE 500 Research Methods (3 credit hours) – this course should be taken in the first two courses (six credit hours) of this study.
  • RE 601 Integrated Reflection Ministry Project (3 credit hours)

Three core courses (9 credit hours)

  • BS 500 Hermeneutics
